In an inspiring feat of determination and compassion, Dr. André Hattingh (Founder & CEO, Pediatric Care Africa) set a world record during his 3rd annual 'On-Trac-Tor' charity ride on a Mahindra tractor. This charity ride aimed to achieve three crucial objectives - raise funds for pediatric surgeries, shine a spotlight on the harrowing issue of farm murders, and raise awareness about the violence inflicted on children.
Over the course of 21 days, this purposeful ride traversed 6 provinces, covering an astonishing 3,500 kilometres. The journey commenced on 21st July 2024 at Mahindra Nelspruit and triumphantly concluded on 11th August 2024 at the same starting point. The attempt was meticulously evaluated, verified and certified by RecordSetters in the USA, marking it as an official world record.
Dr. Hattingh chose Mahindra's powerful 86-110 tractor for this endeavour, a machine equipped with a fully enclosed cab, climate control system, and an 83kW engine, towing a Mahindra trailer. Remarkably, this year's ride was carried out without the support of any additional vehicles, underscoring the doctor's solitary resolve. Despite the absence of a convoy, Mahindra ensured the tractor received essential servicing at strategic points along the route. Dr. Hattingh's solo journey symbolised the unwavering strength and determination of those he sought to aid. However, individuals were encouraged to join him for short distances, fostering a spirit of unity and collective purpose.
In a gesture of solidarity, Mahindra also pledged to donate a portion of the sales from its 6060, 6075, 7590 and 86-110 models sold during the three weeks of the charity ride to Pediatric Care Africa.
This journey was beyond setting records, it was about making an indelible impact, one kilometre at a time. Dr. Hattingh's relentless drive, paired with Mahindra's unwavering support, stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and the profound difference it can make in the lives of others.
