Strengthening fes leadership in tanzania through a local assembly plant by our partners

01 December 2024

In a proud moment for Swaraj and Agricom (Swaraj distributor in Tanzania), the foundation stone for Tanzania’s first tractor assembly plant in Dodoma was laid on 8th August 2024, marking a significant milestone in the country’s agricultural evolution.
At the glorious ceremony, H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan (President of the United Republic of Tanzania) did the honours of laying the foundation stone, heralding a new era of agricultural advancement in East Africa. Other dignitaries present were Hon. Hussein Bashe (Minister of Agriculture), along with other ministers and government officials. Mr. Sanjay Jadhav (VP, Head of Exports, International Business, Mahindra FES) and Mr. Sandesh Parab (Head of Africa, Mahindra FES) along with Ms. Angelina Ngalula (Chairperson, Agricom) and Mr. Alex Duffar (Group CEO, Agricom) were present for the ceremony.
This strategic development of setting up assembly plant in the country aims to generate employment, empower youth, promote sustainable agribusiness, enhance food security and economic growth. It is perfectly aligned with Tanzania government’s ‘Build Better Tomorrow’ initiative. The government has plans to provide 10000 tractors to Tanzanian farmers over the next 5 years. The CKD assembly plant will commence operations by June’ 2025.
At the event, Swaraj and Agricom furthered its support by handing over Swaraj 855 FE tractors to the Tanzania Cotton Association.
Swaraj tractors enjoys leadership position in Tanzanian market and this development can further strengthen the position.
